In 2001, CJC-NGNA established a Convention Scholarship Award to assist a  CJC-NGNA member, who is also a member of NGNA, to attend  NGNA's  annual convention.  The CJC-NGNA Convention Scholarship was renamed The Francine Cathcart Travel Scholarship, on April 5, 2005,  in fond memory of  Francine Cathcart, Membership Chair and Founding Member.

Purpose:  To assist at least (one) CJC-NGNA member with the costs associated with traveling to the NGNA Convention.  

Scholarship:  Amount of scholarship is determined by the active CJC-NGNA membership on a yearly basis. Scholarship amount may change related to the financial status of organization, and location of conference

Approved amount for 2011  is $800.    The number of scholarships to be awarded will be two.

 Eligibility:

bulletScholarship program is open to CJC-NGNA members in good standing (dues current), who are also members (in good standing) of the National Gerontological Nursing Association.
bulletScholarship winner must remain a member of CJC-NGNA and NGNA for the year following scholarship award.
 
bulletApplicants must be willing and able to attend the NGNA Convention, 10/13 to 10/16 in Louisville, Kentucky
 
bulletApplicants must be willing to share information learned at the conference with the membership of CJC-NGNA.
 

 Guidelines:

bulletScholarship application will be submitted by eligible members to Cindy Shemansky, Program Coordinator  no later than June 1, 2011.
bulletForms will be checked for completeness and verification of membership in NGNA and CJC-NGNA.
bulletForms will be randomly drawn from those submitted. The winning members will receive the following:

Convention registration – paid by CJC-NGNA ; Funds to assist with travel/lodging expenses –Total funding amount awarded will be determined by the active membership on or before June of each year; Scholarship rights are not transferable.

 General Conditions: 

bulletScholarship entrants agree to abide by the terms and general conditions of the scholarship.
bulletScholarship winners are responsible for making their own travel/accommodation arrangements. CJC-NGNA will provide a check to recipient, payable to NGNA, in the amount of the NGNA member rate conference registration fee. (Early registration rate only)
 
bulletCJC-NGNA will provide a check to the scholarship recipient for an amount determined by the active membership to assist with travel/lodging costs. Scholarship recipient is responsible for paying any and all additional costs/fees beyond the scholarship amount.
 
bulletScholarship recipient is not eligible to apply for the CJC-NGNA Scholarship Grant the following year.
 
bulletScholarship recipient grants CJC-NGNA the right to use their name/picture in print or on any other media in connection with the contest.
bulletBy entering, participants release and hold harmless, CJC-NGNA, their officers, members and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the scholarship won.
 
bulletCJC-NGNA assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected or mutilated entries, or for costs incurred by recipient beyond the scholarship amount.
 
bulletGeneral Conditions are subject to revision on a yearly basis by the active membership.
